Assistant Professor Irish Jane L. Talusan (she/her) earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from the University of Santo Tomas and obtained her Master of Arts in Media Studies (Broadcast) from UP CMC. She is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Communication at the same institution. Additionally, she holds certifications in online courses in the areas of statistics, data analytics, research ethics, and teaching effectiveness.
Throughout her academic career, she has taught courses on communication theory, research methods, ethics, and media and society. Meanwhile, her academic publications focus on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) and communication research within the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She has also presented both quantitative and qualitative research studies at local and international conferences.
Beyond teaching and research, Irish Talusan is actively in service to the University and the larger community. She is a member of the UP CMC Department of Communication Research's extension committee and the University Council Committee on Extension Services (UC CES). Furthermore, she is the Arts and Humanities cluster representative of the UP Diliman Task Force for Research Integrity (TRFI). Aside from serving as the assistant treasurer on the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Association for Communication and Media Research, Inc. (PACMRI), she is also a member of the Southeast Asian Media Studies Association (SEAMSA).
Professionally, she gained experience as a former researcher, writer, segment producer, and news reporter at a local television station. She also has a previous background in online content writing and style reading. Recently, her professional focus has shifted towards quantitative projects, including working on various surveys for the government and industry.
